Space Station 13 is an open-source multiplayer role-playing/social deduction game.

In my free time, I've contributed a few small pull requests to one branch of the game.
These are mainly just bug fixes, sprite adjustments, and map edits. Below you can see a small gallery of my contributions.

Contributing to SS13 taught me about the best practices while working with version control (via git), along with giving me experience in receiving professional feedback from actual, professional game developers. I don't want to oversell my role- I'm just one of hundreds of contributors- but contributing to this project was an extremely valuable experience for me.

I used my knowledge of it to create an expansive (but not official) map and gamemode in my overhaul mod named Carcass, which is also visible on this portfolio!

Floor and wall designer update

My biggest contribution to the game was in the Floor and Wall designer tool, a long-neglected mechanic. I studied it's code to determine how it worked, then added over 90 new styles to it, using various sprites from across the codebase, and even repurposing cut content (after getting permission from the original developers, of course!).

Helmet resprites

I proposed a slight resprite of the space helmet inventory icons to bring them more in line with the updated art style, though after some feedback I determined it wasn't necessary.
The red helmet's sprite did end up in the game after some edits, as this icon resembled how the helmet actually appeared in-game far better than the original one.

Map adjustments
I've made a few small touch-ups across various maps. Most of these are QoL changes. For example, while the map "Clarion" was being rebalanced, the medical areas ending up being a little neglected. Which was a shame because it had a few baffling design decisions.
My rework shuffled it into a much more player-friendly space.
Other bug fixes
Some of my changes include bug fixes that are much harder to explain, but I've fixed some bugs that had been unfixed for close to a decade!
